Who will own my data once I submit it?
The Centre for Genomic Research, University of Liverpool.
Why do you need my information?
We collect your information so that we can:
- Contact you to discuss your enquiry;
- Design and cost suitable genomics projects and provide a quote;
- Track enquiries and projects through our internal processes;
- Report service usage metrics to the University of Liverpool;
- Carry out limited internal analytics to understand and improve our services.
What allows you to use my information?
We rely on the legal basis of legitimate interests in order to process your information. Collecting contact details and project information is necessary for us to respond to enquiries, prepare accurate quotes, and manage our services. You have the right to object to this processing at any time.
Who will my information be shared with?
Your information will only be used within the University of Liverpool. It is accessible to staff in the Centre for Genomic Research, and summary usage data (including names and email addresses) may be shared internally with our host department, the Liverpool Shared Research Facilities (LIV-SRF), for reporting key metrics. We do not share your information with any external organisations.
Do I have to provide this information and what will happen if I don’t?
Providing your information is optional. However, if you do not provide contact details and project information, we will not be able to respond to your enquiry, provide you with a project design or quotation, or track your enquiry through our systems.
How long will you keep this data for and why?
Enquiry records are stored indefinitely within Salesforce unless you ask us to delete them. We retain this information so that we can respond to follow-up questions, track usage of our service, and report annual metrics to the University.
How will my information be stored?
Your information will be stored securely in the University of Liverpool’s Salesforce system, which is hosted on servers located in Stockholm, Sweden (within the European Union). Access is restricted to authorised staff in the Centre for Genomic Research, and may also be granted to University auditors when required for legitimate audit purposes.
Will this information be used to take automated decisions about me?
No. All enquiries are reviewed and processed manually by our staff.
Will my data be transferred abroad and why?
No. Your data will be held on Salesforce servers located in Stockholm, Sweden (within the European Union) and will not be transferred outside the UK/EU.
What rights do I have when it comes to my data?
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, you may have the following rights with regards to your personal data:
- The Right to subject access – you have the right to see a copy of the personal data that the University holds about you and find out what it is used for.
- The Right to rectification – you have the right to ask the University to correct or remove any inaccurate data that we hold about you.
- The Right to erasure (right to be forgotten) – you have the right to ask the University to remove data that we hold about you.
- The Right to restriction – you have the right to ask for your information to be restricted (locked down) on University systems.
- The Right to data portability – you have the right to ask for your data to be transferred back to you or to a new provider at your request.
- The Right to object – you have the right to ask the University to stop using your personal data or to stop sending you marketing information, or complain about how your data is used.
- The Right to prevent automated decision making – you have the right to ask the University to stop using your data to make automated decisions about you or to stop profiling your behaviour (where applicable).
